200 Marinades
A marinade is any liquid, rub or paste applied to poultry, meats, seafood or vegetables to add flavor. Marinades were originally used as preservatives to prevent food from spoiling as quickly or to hide the unpleasant flavor of food a bit past its prime, especially in hotter climates. The first marinades were actually brines for fish. In fact, the word marinade is derived from the same Latin root word as maritime, meaning from the sea.
